The process is an intuitive one not beginning from photographs or sketches, it starts from an idea in the mind inspired by subconscious experiences and memories, feelings and retained imagery from the landscape and life. When painting Estar just begins experimenting, applying paint, making marks, trying out ideas. Paintings are washed back after a few layers of paint, revealing interesting textures and surprising marks, the layering continues, without over thinking the process, just letting the painting happen, when the painting opens up then control is taken to complete the process.
